Just the Number of Posts in Category

Hello,

Is there a way to get just the number of posts in a category. I searched through the category php file and couldn’t find anything.

What I want to do is have a link to a ‘page’ (eg. tutorials directory) that lists all the posts in the category ‘tutorials’. I want to list the link to this ‘page’ with the number of ‘tutorials’ in the ‘tutorials category’ next to it.
