I just revamped my band's website, which uses WP. You can check it out at:

I had to take the new design down for a few days, but it's back up now, if anyone wants to critique it for me..

it loads very slowly for me (4Mbit cable) and its also very dark. I don't neccessarily dislike dark sites, but I've seen very few blogs that pull off dark schemes well. Blogs (those that arent photoblogs) are meant to be read; dark color schemes tend to make it hard to read. If I have to move closer to the screen to read, which I did on your site, I won't be coming back.

Thanks for taking a look.. can't imagine why it would load slowly for you. The background image is about 72kb, and the background for the content div is about 25kb. Shouldn't be a problem on even a slow connection.

The site is dark, but that's to go along with the feel of the band.. a bright white site doesn't really convey the feeling of a heavy rock band.

It loaded quickly for me - like the design though the dark background makes reading the text bit hard. Maybe a slightly lighter colour to keep the theme but make it a bit easier on the eyes?!

hi man...it looks great. im planning on using wordpress for a band site as well, do you find that it has everything it needs for your site/blog?

josalmon: Thanks for taking a look. I just went in and brightened up the content div a bit and i think it's easier to read now.. I also changed the position a bit so it overlaps with the logo less.

Dalius: I like using wordpress for the band site.. I used to use Dreamweaver, but adding updates to the news page was kind of a pain. This makes it real easy for any of the band members to add posts, and with the Pages feature, you can still easily set up other areas of the site like show listings, bios, etc..

Contrary to other people's opinions, I really like it the way it is. I think the colours and feel go well with what you're content is centered upon.

    Happy writing!

Oh yes, I do have a suggestion. Replace the permalink for pages like the one 'about the band' with something like domain/band rather than domain/blog/?pageid=3. This makes it easier to remember and looks more pleasing. And is easy to do in WP.

I truly enjoyed your site as well. Any way I could talk you into sharing your theme? I would love to cheat and have a great headstart to hack away at. Email:chemicalcity@gmail.com
    Thanks and love the design.

the posts are a bit too much aligned to the right. i think it would look better if they were in the centre.

Thanks for all the comments on the site, I've made a few tweaks since I posted my first message about it and I'm pretty happy with it now. Now I just need to find a gallery plugin that integrates well with it.

wahgnube: Thanks for the tip on the links for the pages.. I hadn't thought of doing it that way, and it's a great idea.

    aar0n: Sent you an email.

You're welcome. And (I know this isn't what this forum is for, but) I listened to your band's samples on garageband and I really liked them, especially 'By degrees'!

Hey, thanks for checking out the songs.. the two that are up there are a little old now, we're going to have some new stuff up in the next month or two. :)

I looked into setting up the Permalinks, but I'm using GoDaddy for hosting, and the redirects aren't working. I asked them if mod_rewrite is installed and they said it is, but that it still won't work.. arg.
