Jetpack update won't update (godaddy host)

I host through godaddy. Within a week or two of installing wordpress on my site thru godaddy, I noticed that I had to update jetpack (plugin update notification on dashboard). I have attempted several times to do so. I always get the same message. After 4 or 5 hours of waiting, I close the window. When I log in again, I see:

An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.

What am I doing wrong? wp: v3.2.1, jetpack v1.1.2
This is what I see when I am updating.. it never changes:
