Jetpack site statistics affected? (4 posts)

Hi, perhaps this is just me, or my excellent website;), but recently my hits have increased significantly (only a few hundred per day).

But I just realised that the top post for this week is Google_utmc with 57 hits today.

This "Post" is one of the "Posts" I did to explain what this cookie is, so that it appears in the listing of cookies used on the site. I didn't expect it to show up as a top post however.

Is there a way of stopping these from being recorded? I just clicked on the link, and definitely the site is not serving the "Post", just a 404 error- Not Found. Are others aware of this being recorded as a "hit"?

Would just add that the top post is coming from site stats in the main dashboard page, I am not sure if that widget is a Jetpack addition or a standard wordpress one.

    Any comments? Many thanks,
    Ian

Hi Ian, sorry- not sure I follow what is happening or what you expect to happen. I don't think this has anything to do with Cookie Law Info? How does Jetpack work out what a 'top post' is- is it by page impressions to a specific URL? Are you using the cookie table feature or just the basic plugin?

    Sorry, will try again.
I made a list of all my cookies, which show up as a list that look like posts when I click on the CookieLawInfo toolbar tab on the left hand side.
One of the cookies I named Google _utmc.
I only use these 19 cookie "posts" to populate the table which is presented on the privacy policy page using the shortcode

    [cookie_audit style="simple"]

It is one of the items I named Google _utmc, which is showing as a top post- I would not have expected these items to ever show as top posts.

I'm sorry, I can't really explain it any better, but I have included a couple of screen shots to show you what I mean.
Oops, can't upload here, so put them here.
It isn't pretty, but you may get a better idea what I mean.
Thanks, and thanks for your prompt reply, this is non urgent.

Hi Ian, thanks for posting. It's a bit of an odd one. Perhaps I'm wrong but I don't see how this could be caused by the plugin. How does Jetpack work out what a 'top post' is? Are you placing a direct link to the custom post on your website? Have you edited/previewed that post many times? In any event it doesn't look like it's a major issue. All the best, Richard
