[resolved] Jetpack Post by Email only works when sent from non-domain email accounts (7 posts)

I have a self-hosted wordpress.org site connected to jetpack. I have tested several other features such as the stats and the contact form, but the post by email has been puzzling. When I send email to the 'secret address' from a domain email (pack747.net), it never gets posted. However, if I send an email from google or even a .edu account, it shows up immediately as a post. So, it's as if the domain email addresses are being placed in a spam filter of some kind, but I don't know where/how to fix this issue. Any ideas?

I see you have also sent us an email about this problem. I replied a few hours ago. Check your inbox! :)

Yes, sorry for the cross-posting. I am new to wordpress.com and wasn't sure how long to expect a response back from there. Anyhow...

I received your email this morning, but that doesn't really solve my problem completely. The email users aren't tech saavy and won't be accessing the email except through the online interface - through webmail. So, is there not a way to prevent those messages from going to spam or otherwise being blocked?

Okay, so the only other email client I use to access this account is the one through my phone - not sure if that is exchange too - but it seems to also be blocked. I just sent another test message.

It seems like it would be relatively simple to just have wordpress.com/.org simply allow all messages from a certain domain, especially since you know that messages from domain *.pack747.net are safe. Otherwise, I have a half working system and I'd prefer not to backtrack and ask users to begin using their personal email accounts again - not the optimal or wisest solution for a business.

Please let me know what we can do to get this fully working. If we need to pay for this service, then we are willing to do that. Thanks!

I do not see that last test message in our logs. Your last test was from your .edu email address, and was successful.

Could you try to post by email via your phone again?

We have made some changes to Post By Email, and you should now be able to post from Open-Xchange. Could you try again, and let me know if everything works properly?

Yes, it worked like a charm! Thank you so much for looking into this and resolving the issue. I can now let the Cubmaster know that things have been resolved and messages can be sent from anywhere. You are the best!
