• I can’t for the life of me figure out how to make the little counter badge in the left wordpress navbar go away. The thing I’m calling a badge is a black circle with a “2” in it, next to the word “jetpack” in the side navbar of wordpress; it’s similar to the badge that shows when a plugin is available for update.

I’m running the latest version of both WP and Jetpack and the counter shows “2.” I opened and “learned more” about every Jetpack module, thinking the counter was telling me there were two modules I hadn’t read about. Still there.

I must be overlooking something really obvious…

Do you use the “Manual Control” plugin? If so, could you try to deactivate it and let me know if it helps?

    Hi, Jeremy –

No, i don’t use that plugin, sorry!

I have the same issue — black circle with a two in it with the latest updates and no way I can see to get the badge to turn off.

I had the same issue, and tried deactivating the Manual Control plugin. It didn’t work until I deleted Manual Control and went to Jetpack. It then updated.

I got the following process to work:
    1) deactivate the Manual Control for Jetpack plugin
    2) click on Jetpack in the side navbar to open it
badge turns off at this point
    3) activate the Manual Control plugin
    badge stays off.

I didn’t need to delete Manual Control.

Thanks, everyone, for all the clues.

    Jeremy or anyone else –

For those of us without the Manual Control plugin, what else might be causing this?

    Thanks.
