It might serve you well if you don't run any other plugins because you don't know which ones it will break until you run it.
It screwed my NextGen Gallery picture plugin. The comment plugin causes server errors so I can't use it. That's two that I've come across so far. Your mileage may vary.
Does Jetpack run by the same standards as other plugin authors? Or does everyone else have to write for their 'standards?'

Thanks for the report.
NextGen Gallery is currently not compatible with Jetpack. The plugin authors are aware of the issue, and they released a Beta version to address this issue last week.
