Jetpack and 'Add Media"

    On April 8 my site was updated to WP 3.8.2. Three days later the ‘Add Media” button stopped working, (click on it and nothing happened.)
    I deactivated/reactivated all plugins and found that with Jetpack deactivated the “Add Media” problem has gone.
    Is there something I need to do (or am able to do) with Jetpack?
    Will my life become miserable if I leave Jetpack deactivated?
