Javascript in p2 theme

I am having a weird problem with the p2 theme. I am trying to integrate my Facebook pagefeed for one of my websites int othe template so that it shows up in between the admin post box and the recent updates.

Currently I have the feed showing in the sidebar using a text widget, but when I place exactly the same script into the index.php, it will show up once and then the feed disappears leaving just the link to the facebook page. I am not a coder but I do have some experience with making simple modifications to other themes that I have used in the past 5 years or so and have usually been able to work out where I have gone wrong.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
