• I have one Japanese page in an otherwise English site.
I used utf-8 and everything’s fine in Firefox, Chrome, and IE7, but some characters are appearing as empty boxes in IE8. If I turn on “compatibility mode” it looks OK, though.

I’ve heard I can force compatibility mode by adding <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=EmulateIE7″> to that page’s html header, but all my pages share a header.

I’ve read I can install languages packs and it will fix what *I* am seeing. Should I assume that anybody who cares about for Japanese content will see my page fine?

    Any suggestions?
