• … so I took a deep breath last night and finally upgraded from 2.3 to 2.6.1. And it was easy!! Yayyy! Except for one thing: My visual editor has disappeared. I mean, the tab is still set for the visual editor but it displays HTML and I can’t toggle to the HTML tab.

I’ve seen this bug addressed several times in support but either the thread dies before a solution is given or some solution is given that doesn’t work.

So, anyone have an idea? Thank you so much!

so, after researching this more, It appears LOTS of people have this issue. I’m surprised WP hasn’t officially addressed it.

I think I discovered the solution. If you upgraded your blog from anything previous to 2.6 to anything after 2.6 it appears the database upgrade may have missed the configuration for tinyMCE.

To fix: Go to the Users tab on your Dashboard and select your profile. The first item is configuration for your editor. First check the box so that Visual Editor is disabled. Navigate back to a Page (or Post) to edit. Nothing should have changed. You’ll still have no Visual Editor. Go back to your profile page, check the same box and return to your Page and you should now have a Visual Editor.
