   Everytime I try to start doing CSS I get this,

   "You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information."

   I went to the Codex and had no luck, I am on a mac if that makes any difference, please, please help!

   It sounds like you need to CHMOD your files to change the permissions. The codex should tell you how.

   I tried Codex but could not figure it out.

   You have to change your file permissions in either the File Manager with whomever you have hosting, or in your FTP program (if that is what you use to upload files to your site).
