Hello everybody. I tried to install several times but the same result.

everything seems all right until I go to midomain.com/index.php and redirects to the files explorer in "index of /wp-admin/".

    I can enter http://mydomain.com/wp-admin/index.php

    five minutes installation?

Because it's a rather large coder's reference site and there's no sign of WordPress on the url.

Well.... finally I solved it. The error was in htaccess directive:

    DirectoryIndex CSS-css.htm

    It seems that wordpress requires:

    DirectoryIndex index.php

and I don't know why.... Then, I can't have a site with a default page different than index.php?

    Thank you

WordPress does use index.php, not index.html. You can serve index.html or index.php by default at root, but not both. If you want to keep both sites, you could easily put wordpress in a sub-directory if you like.

My idea is a non-blog page as the default page, and a link to the blog in the menu bar. All of these in root page (non-blog page only are a very few pages)

    is that not possible?

My idea is a non-blog page as the default page, and a link to the blog in the menu bar.

That's a great idea, and a pretty common thing, and very easy to do.

You just can't serve your existing .html site and your new WordPress site from the same directory at the same time.

also having difficulty with my site... i always get a IIS7 error 404. this happened when I loaded the wordpress update.

    Requested URL http://www.xxx.com:80/products/
    Physical Path e:\HostingSpaces\xxxxx\xxxx-export.com\wwwroot\products\

the mysql db has the path as http://localhost/wordpress/

don't understand why is this even if i change directory paths it still comes with errors but our home page comes up ok but not the linkages.

    1. try reloading the file structure, mysql, wordpress, but nothing and our Service provider said its wordpress is the problem... I don't see it to be so..

    Please any suggestions?
