• Okay, I have read through numerous articles on TinyMCE not working and tried several different solutions that I have found, but none of them are working. The only thing I haven’t done is deactivate and reactivate my plugins. I haven’t because TinyMCE has been working just fine with all of my plugins until it just suddenly stopped working the other day. If necessary, I will do this step but I have a lot of settings to redo if I do this so I am trying to avoid it. My issue is of the editor not displaying when in visual mode of the new post screen. It shows up on HTML, but not visual. Here are the errors found by Google Chrome Inspector:

Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token < munsonianonline.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/wp-tinymce.php?c=1&ver=3241-1141100:1

    Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token <munsonianonline.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/langs/wp-langs-en.js?ver=3241-1141100:1

Uncaught ReferenceError: tinyMCE is not defined munsonianonline.com/wp-admin/post-new.php:967

I have re-uploaded a fresh copy of wp-includes and wp-admin and these are the errors I continue to get. Please help someone!!!!!

  • Deactivate all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

Okay, even with all plugins deactivated, it still doesn’t work. Fortunately most of my plugins retained their settings so I didn’t have too much work to do.

Okay so I just updated to 2.8.4 hoping that it may fix the issue but it was to no avail. In fact, it created a conflict with my Social Access Control plugin which I had to delete. So I am now back to square one.

TinyMCE Visual Edtior is not working on the new/edit post screen. It does not display anything. Text displays as white when viewing through the visual tab. Switch to HTML and it can be viewed just fine and the HTML Editor displays fine as well. I have tried deactivating all plugins and it did not fix the problem. I updated WP and it did not fix the problem. I uploaded a fresh copy of TinyMCE to the wp-includes/js folder. Does anyone have any other ideas? My blog is being used for a newspaper website making it difficult for my reporters to create new posts with no formatting options. I could take the time to teach them HTML but I’d really rather not. PLEASE help…

Well, I found an alternate solution to fixing the TinyMCE… replacing it. I installed FCKEditor and it overrides the TinyMCE and works just fine. It doesn’t provide for buttons that my other plugins placed on the TinyMCE editor like adding Polls, NextGen Galleries, etc, but it works!
