I’d appreciate a reply. I purchased the “variations” add-on these are the issues I’m having using WP 3.8 ……

    1. If any of the variation fields are incorrectly entered the process completes without an error but the product doesn’t show. Ok during testing, not so good doing a big import.

    2. I’m not clear on if the variations have to be uploaded on a separate csv file or if they can be included. The documentation says “There are several new fields available for you when you create a header” so I assumed they could go on the same sheet.

    3. If this is the case I’m not sure what the “variation_master” SKU should be. All my SKU’s relate to products which are listed as variations. In your example all the variations use the “variation_master” SKU as a parent.

    4. If the variations can’t go on the same csv file and need to be uploaded separately I’m guessing that the first variation of a product that is uploaded would then become the “variation_master”. The issue with doing it this way is that on the basic csv importer you can’t define attributes, therefore, as far as I can tell if the initial variation is for example a red t-shirt, size L, you would need to import the initial csv data, go in, add the attributes manually to allow you to define this product as the “variation_master” in your variations sheet so that you can then do a second import with the other variations.

    5. I can’t find a way to import images to the variations. I can import a gallery with a featured image but if I have red, green and blue t-shirts I then need to go into each variation and manually import the correct color. Is there a way to do this on the main import or can it be done on a second import by merging, or does it need to be done manually?

    thanks

Either you need to publish some very clear instructions for using the variations or you should remove it until you’ve fixed it. The basic importer seems to work “ok”. The variations add-on is a nightmare. You need an arbitrary sku for any variables just to upload. If you try merge any variations and it doesn’t like what it sees then it seems to do random things. I had it change the price to “free”. I also tried to update 3 of 5 variations of a product and it simply deleted them. Hopefully you can get this fixed or at least supply some decent instructions and warnings. You shouldn’t be charging for something that works this badly.

Crictech, I agree. I purchased this with add-ons and had a horrific time with the variations. I’ve used lots of csv importers through many platforms and this was by far the most difficult. It took me nearly a month to fix each problem I encountered and with hardly any support. I emailed him and the response time became slower and slower, and then finally drifted off.

    1. The directions need to be a whole lot more clearer. Even using the examples, and pretty much memorizing the directions from the site, it took me nearly a month to get each component I needed working. And even with the examples, I had add\do\pull-out-of-thin-air random things in order to get the variations working.

    2. Customer service needs to be a whole lot better. I understand people are busy, but a simple “I got your email and will be looking into your problem within the next few days” is fine. And of course, following up.

As I’ve now got it working (knocking on wood), I probably won’t ask for a refund (still debating) because I’m going to use the plugin. But honestly, it shouldn’t be this hard for a product that has been purchased to work. I was quite excited when I discovered this product but my frustration and the lack of support has left me disappointed. If my bank account could have afforded it, I would have purchased the official expensive version from woocommerce.

I’m sorry to hear you both have had such difficulties/bad experiences, but these forums are only for free version support – so any issues with a paid plugin/version really should be taken up with the developers directly.

I think if you read the posts we have taken up the issue with the developer with no success and I’d like to point out this forum is for woo commerce csv importer which the paid variations add on is unsurprisingly an add on but thanks for your input. That said I found the free simple product importer to work ok although it would benefit from more or better instructions.

    Hi there,

First of all, this is the forum of the FREE importer. If you have issues with the add-ons, you can mail me or fill in the contact form here.

Beside that. The product works for thousands of user and i have not received any bug reports. The most common problem is that people do not use the right values ( see the documentation here) or CSV format.

Support for the paid add-ons is free. I will answer as soon as i have time. If you need immediate support, you can get paid support.

This is how i can have the prices low. Else buy the woocommerce extension to import. It’s about 200 euro’s! For that you can have ME import ALL your products!
