• I have been attempting to do something I would think should be rather simple, which is add Adsense javascript to my sidebar via a widget. When I past the code into a simple text widget the indicator just keeps spinning indefinitely without saving.

I tried another tact which was to use the Advertising Manager plugin to insert this code. When I paste the code into the proper place and click save the page just loads a page not found instead of saving the change. For some reason WP is not liking my AdSense code. Anyone have any insight on what might be going wrong here?

  • As a simple tool for diagnosis, have you tried using a different browser to edit and save the widget? I’m betting that you may be using Internet Explorer when that symptom occurs – maybe not though. If you have a computer available with a different browser – Firefox? (or if you have more that one browser installed), try that first just to narrow down the possibilities. Another suggestion may be to try adding the widget, leave it empty and save it first. If it saves, then attempt to edit and save it again.

I use Firefox on my Mac, which is where I ran into the issues. I’ve now tested in FF (Mac and XP), Safari(Mac) and IE6 and get the same result every time.

It will save if I don’t put the js into it. As soon as I do and save it just keeps the spinning icon going indefinitely.

    Bump.

This works for all I know including me. You need to start with the basic debug. Turn off all your plugins, go back to the default theme and then install the text widget with code. Keep adding things back until you find the culprit.

I turned off all plugins, went to default theme and still no luck. Could this be a host issue? Maybe I need to fresh install wordpress? Just seems like such a random problem.
