Issues caused by update to 3.0.5 (3 posts)

I'm a graphic designer and maintain about 20 WP sites. Wednesday I set about updating them all to 3.0.5 (from 3.0.4). Fortunately I always make a full backup before each update (as we all should). I had 3 different issues, each with a different site as follows:

    1) lost all the links listed in the blogroll. Had to re-add them all.
    2) all the pages except the custom error page were changed to draft mode so the only thing that displayed was the error page. Once I switched them all back to published all was well. Glad I noticed that was the issue pretty quickly.
    3) the worst case was a site that lost all its pages except 3 of them. Fortunately I was able to restore the site.

But now I'm afraid to update it. Is it safe to leave it in v3.0.4 since it doesn't have but two users? Any idea why I would've run into these problems. All the other installations went fine. They're all on the same shared host. Very odd and disconcerting. Thanks for you input.

No. 3.0.5 was a security update.

Did you deactivate all plugins and switch to the Twenty Ten theme before upgrading?

I did not deactivate plugins nor did I change to the 2010 theme. However, I've never done either of those things for any other update and never had an issue before on these same sites. And didn't have an issue with 17 sites, only these 3. Very odd. I guess I better start doing it "right" in the future. Thanks.
