Issue with gallery view on mobile devices (6 posts)

    Hello,

I am having a hard time forcing the image gallery lightbox to be 100% width and auto height when viewing on a mobile device or even just shrinking the width of the browser on a desktop computer. The image is being distorted, the width fits within the lightbox just fine but the height is the problem.

I am using responsive architecture and have attempted implementing some conditional CSS to fore the image resize but have not been successful. The link to the site is: http://blueherondining.com/web/catering/

That is currently the only page that has the image gallery. Any guidance would be insanely appreciated. Thank you in advance!

@TDerouinDesign - The Lightbox Effects included with NextGEN Gallery are all based on standard Lightbox libraries. Some work better than other on mobile devices you may need to experiment with each to find the one that you like the best that you can also manipulate to what you want with additional Custom CSS.

You might consider looking into our NextGEN Pro plugin as the NextGEN Pro Lightbox does perform much better on mobile devices that the Basic versions. Feel free to visit http://nextgen-gallery.com/ for more information and also feel free to use our Contact Us form if you have any additional questions regarding NextGEN Pro.

Thank you for the quick response!

I appreciate your notes but could you possibly recommend which default lightbox effects work better with mobile devices with the free version of this plugin?

I would recommend the PRO version of the plugin to my client but they have a very small budget and although it is only an annual $39 I am worried that I will have even more troubleshooting to do and do not want to go over budget.

    Thanks again!

@TDerouinDesign - Unfortunately each of the Lightbox Effects included with NextGEN Gallery all have their pros and cons when it comes to mobile ... it was a significant reason behind us putting all of the work we did into the NextGEN Pro Lightbox so that NextGEN Gallery displays would be more compatible with mobile devices when NextGEN Pro was installed.

    I completely understand.

Can you confirm that there is definitely a mobile friendly lightbox effect in the pro version that will work out of the box without us having to troubleshoot anything? And if so, which lightbox effect would that be?

I just don't want to recommend to the client that the PRO version will be less expensive then having us hardcode a solution and then find out we still have heavy lifting to do even with the PRO version.

I am sure PRO would work fine but want to be certain before making the recommendation. I assume that there is also some sort of premium support with the PRO version, please confirm. Thanks!

@TDerouinDesign - The NextGEN Pro Lightbox has many options but essentially only the one "effect", I would recommend giving it a try on the galleries at http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-pro/ with your iPhone to see how well it responds ... and of course there is always our 30-day money-back guarantee if it doesn't meet your needs.
