Issue with charset in email notifications

    Can anyone shed any light on a charset issue with email notifications received. I am using bbpress and bbpress email notifications plugin and bbpress quotes, but I am not convinced the issue is the plugins.

    Characters such as quotations are showing up as ascii characters in the emails my users receive, eg “Test”

    I had some hope when I followed this thread – http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-new-user-email-setup-email-charset?replies=3 – this solves the problem of the quoted text but the main email still has ascii characters.

    Can anyone offer any suggestions?
