Leoconcon,
NextGEN Gallery 2.0.0 makes use of a library called simplehtmldom (http://simplehtmldom.sourceforge.net/) which requires the mbstring PHP extension enabled. Please contact your hosting provider and ask that they enable this extension please.
For more information, see
http://www.php.net/manual/en/mbstring.installation.php
Cheers,
Mike
Rolled back in hopes of a fix or update down the road
Update to 2.0.0 and I made the same mistake.
Lost, rename the folder “nextgen-gallery” -> “nextgen-gallery_old”, then install the previous version 1.9.3, and all ok, retrieve all the galleries.
Hope this helps.
regards
Hi – just wanted to note that we’ll be introducing a fix for this in the next update. See Mike’s explanation above, and you can still see if you can get your hosting company to activate that PHP extension as a quicker fix, or roll back and wait for the next update.
Thanks,
Erick
Hi all –
ERRORS REFERENCING SIMPLEHTMLDOM
We have a quick fix for errors referencing simplehtmldom. Please see:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/do-you-have-an-error-referencing-simplehtmldom-or-mb_string_detect?replies=1
If you still have issues related to this, can you post them in that thread?
ERRORS REFERENCING PREG_MATCH()
For this one, we think we also have a solution, though it requires contacting your hosting company to update the PHP version on your servers.
If you still have this issue, can you please post any comments to this thread so we can keep discussion consolidate?

For now, because we have a quick fix for the simplehtmldom issue and the permanent fix will be in the next NG update (in a week or less) , and because we have a fix (we think) for preg_match() and in any case comments on that issue will be in another thread, I’m marking this as resolved.
Thanks,
Erick
Thanks,
Erick
I was not nearly so disturbed by the mbstring error, as I was that all of my galleries were missing once I executed Erick’s temporary fix.
warlok101jg’s rollback instructions allowed me to replace NGG2.0.0 with NGG1.9.3 restoring all of my galleries.
I do hope that the NGG developers ensure that our NGG content will be gracefully migrated with the new update.
