ISO Flickr-style Image Gallery, But Not for Flickr

I’ve been looking at gallery plugins and have not found something I like yet. Perhaps I am overlooking something. Perhaps what I am seeking doesn’t exist.

I am new to WP. I used e107 b4. With that, I used Coppermine. It was okay. As an image gallery it worked.

My big impetus for moving to WP was for tagging. The galleries I like use Flickr accounts and obviously allows one to tag those images. I would rather not upload my content to another server. I purchased my domain to host my content there, not at Flickr, etc.

So, what I am looking for is a gallery plugin that will allow me to tag my photos like Flickr, but on my own site.

If a user searches my site for ‘education’, I would like returned any posts I made about education and any photos that I have tagged education.

An added bonus would be the ability to display the latest four (or so) images in the gallery in my sidebar like some of the Flickr-type plugins do.

So, does such a plugin exist? And if so, where would I find it?
