Hey everyone, I've tried googlng, but haven't really found what I'm looking for.

I've got a couple of questions about WordPress before I get really stuck into using it.

I know the themes are easy enough to modify through css etc. But would it make sense for me to use WordPress as a content management for my site ?

Will i be able to .......

    1) Use my own PHP code and PHP includes ? (to run various scripts, to change the layout drastically, to include my own new sub nav and sections such as flash banners etc) Is it as simple as pasting my own code in.... ?

    2) Have a comment section for every individual page, (for example. 5 different band pages with a comments section for each of the bands...?)

    3) Use my own PHP to set up a rating system which determines best Band in a chart ?

Thanks for your time, it's much appreciated. I just don't want to jump in at the deep end, only to find out that I can't do that required stuff.

i know 1 and 2 right off the bat are easy as pie.

number 3 u might want to see if there is a plugin already for what u want to do... if not then yes u can setup ur own rating system and what would be great is if you made it in the form of a plugin, and distributed it to other people.

    Hi

I'm relativly new to WP, CSS and PHP. Coming from python I found it easy to build up my Homepage and deal with conditional tags. Allthough WP isn't a real CMS, from v2.x say for ~50%, it's definitly a bloging software too.

So if you don't really need a blog and more CMS, imho, there would be better and more complicater/feature richer ones. WP is more basic, therefor simple.

But bring in your own PHP-code should be easy. Also there are many plugins available. Have a look at my page (content still missing...)
