• Hi all,

I’m totally new to this, but a friend recommended WP for what I want to do.

It’s not a blog – but a content shop. I want to sell audio files – so that people can see a list of file names/descriptions, listen to a short sample file, and then download any MP3 file they want to buy.

I gather I would need at least one plug-in to achieve this.

Do you think WP is the right place to start .. or should I be looking elsewhere???

    Any advice greatly appreciated!!!! 🙂

  • WP is excellent for making webpages, with any divisions of content. You can certainly make a post (a database entry, a webpage) for each audio file. On this post you can put whatever info you wish, such as name, description, sample mp3. Check into many audio plugin choices for ways to play a sample mp3. For one easy example,

By itself, WP has no features for selling anything. You need some knowledge / experience with e-commerce, or if you’ve never sold thru a website, then you’ve probably got a lot of studying to do, various options to decide how you want to do it. You might look into several WP plugins for e-commerce, shopping cart, making a store, etc. Or you might do it without a plugin, using some service like Paypal shopping cart, or Google Checkout.

For many plugins, look around here,

hope this helps you get started
