WordPress is not the limit, your server is.
I host tonnes of music downloads. Video and apps wouldn’t change anything.
WordPress can be configured to look how you want, and with whatever functionality you want. But its up to your server space and bandwidth limitations

sure, rvoodoo.com is my main public site. It’s got enough content to demonstrate. a couple hundred 2 hour long DJ ssets. I have other sites with far more content, however they are private….. but I can assure you WP handles a little or a lot just as well. And the plugin I use to show short video clips would work for movies. Again, it’s not really about whether WP can handle it. For movies, apps, etc, all media….. you need to worry about the hosting you choose. You’ll need the storage space, the bandwidth, and the speed to support your goals.

Here I give you my ideal site contents:
1000 films, 20.000 music songs, 1000 sharing files, 30.000 users,
10k pageviews/day – 500 online at the same time.
I’m planning to hire a VPS or a dedicated server for this after the wordpress is ready. So, Hosting is not a big problem for me.
I have the desire to make it a huge site. The number above is not fixed and will probably be increased as time passes. Again, I really hope to see a same site that match the above description. If you know any site please give me a link here or send me a private message. I just want to have a look, check the loading and watching video speed!

look around here, all wordpress sites. I’m sure you’ll find some bigger ones in there…or at least get an idea of the variety of things WP can do
