   I downloaded WP version 2.1 on 30th January 2007. Is this version stable? or should I upgrade to 2.1.2? I'm reluctant to upgrade as I've done extensive modifications to the php code - new template files etc.

   Version 2.1 is UNSAFE and you should not use it. There are only two files changes between 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 so upgrading shouldn't cause any problems if you update just the changed files.
