   Is UTF-16 actually supported by WordPress?

   I want to do multi-lingual pages with chinese characters, However I don't think I get any option to choose character set on initial installation (using Fantastico).
   There are a lot of references to character set problems with WordPress, and some references to the wp-config.php file and most the forum questions are marked as unresolved.

   I have seen the article http://codex.wordpress.org/Converting_Database_Character_Sets
   and clearly it is quite non-trivial to change an existing installation, and I wonder whether at the end of it UTF-16 would be fully supported through the rich text editor and so on, or whether I would get more problems with editing and upgrades.
