    Just ran across a theme that has the following code stuffed into footer.php. How effective is something like this? Does it work?

    its in a hidden iframe.

    as far as effectivity: it will open the site in the hidden iframe, if the user hasnt disabled this in their browser settings. I KNOW firefox allows this, and new versions of ie do as well.

    Its effective enough, yes, and malicious.

    If that theme is on the .net site, and you cant make the ultimate decision regarding whether or not the theme ought to be removed, I would be e-mailing Matt asap.

    Thats the kind of crap that ought to be removed immediately off .net (if found there) and I'm happy to donate my time and services if anyone ever needs help in looking through themes for anything similar.
