    Hi,

Im working on a site that we plan on using a different theme for just the blog, including all posts, archives etc. Will this work for that, or is it better off to use wordpress multisite somehow?

So basically we would have our main theme for all the main pages etc, pulls in latest blog posts, but the actual blog index, posts, archive will be using a different theme.

    Thanks in advance!

  • My apologies for the delay in answering. For some reason, I did not receive the usual e-mail notification that a Support post existed.

Everything depends on what Themes you are using. Unfortunately, more and more (mostly Paid) Themes are being written in a way (i.e. – hundreds of Hooks) that my plugin cannot handle.

A WordPress Network (Multisite) is, by far, the preferred solution. Even if your Themes work with my plugin today, they may not tomorrow.

Here is a simple approach: choose Subfolders/Subdirectories when creating a WordPress Network; Site 1 will be example.com; Site 2 will be example.com/blog; a different Theme for each Site.

As an extra benefit, you reduce the chance of other plugins conflicting with each other, as plugins activated on different Sites cannot interfere with each other.
