Is there some detailed directions on adding roles? (5 posts)

First, when I installed this plugin it took me a few tries to figure out how it was working. Then I figured it out and it was doing almost exactly what I wanted, I could not leave that alone and I broke everything. I have managed to reinstall and even rest it, but all the roles that were there are gone.

I am trying to get it work with WP e-Commerce, so the person who deals with sales can only access the sales and not all the admin functions.

If you have deleted roles, you can either:

    • use the CME Backup tool to restore (if you used it to save a backup prior to editing)
    • obtain a backup copy of your WP database and revert one row in the options table: option_name= *_user_roles (where * equals your db prefix as defined in wp-config.php)

I didn't notice the back-up function until after I had started editing.

I am not quite crazy enough to try editing the database, on a live website.

This what happens when you send a graphic designer to a web developer's job. ;)

You could probably get most of the way back by reverting to WordPress defaults and then de/re-activating all plugins which add roles or capabilities.

    tried that

I set up a test install on an XAMPP server. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it doesn't seem to pick up the store manager functions automatically.
