    In other words, is there any way that i can set a default featured image for each author's posts?

    I've found ways to set a universal featured image, but, that's not solving the problem.

    Any ideas?

    I'll +1 this. I'd also like the default featured image to act as the featured image for the author's archive page if possible.

    I've had good success with this plugin:

    By adding a category with the author's nae, and making all applicable categories fall under that, then setting a default image to the category, it works wonderfully.

    Hi ThatRuled - I had someone share some code with me for the functions.php file that specifically targets the author's archive page which is what I wanted...

    add_action('wp_head', 'social_media_author_image' );

    function social_media_author_image() {
        if ( is_author( 'nameofauthor' ) ) {
            // set a custom image if we're visiting authors's author page
           echo '<meta property="og:image" content="authorimage.jpg" />';
        }
    }

    For those just wanting a default featured image, you can't go wrong with what ThatRuled suggests:
