I am using the Linux-OS Kubuntu and therefore I am monitoring the Release Schedule closely:
    https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LucidReleaseSchedule
It helps me planning my future steps/apps etc.

Is there any Release Schedule for WordPress? I would like to know when which alpha, beta, RC 1 etc. comes out. For example, right now everything is on hold for me because WordPress 3.0 will be different than any other WP engine before, but I don't know when I will be able to use it.

Isn't WordPress engine like the Linux distribution Kubuntu where you can use an alpha version and update it automatically to beta version and so on using the update button?

  2. No, it's not like a linux distro.

Honestly, unless you're wanting multisites, just use 2.9.2 right now. When 3.0 is ready, it'll be available for upgrade. Really, 3.0 isn't THAT different than 2.9 :) I'm using it on a site now and it's not a big deal.

This plugin will let you upgrade to the nightly builds: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-beta-tester/
