Is there a way to "duplicate" a site? (23 posts)

Even the "Adjustments for new site" (Inside the "options" of the super admin panel) is very usefull to get autoconfigured the page, post, first comment, etc, for every new site.. i would like to have more automatic configurations for the new sites... including some plugins adjustments that up to now.. i have to do it manually...

is there a plugin that do that?

is there a simple way to make it with the database with phpmyadmin?

i just want to duplicate a site!

    Thanks!

juampolo - I want to know the same thing. (or very similar)

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/417888

I've been looking for an answer to this for a while, and I'm starting to think custom code will be the only thing...maybe we should get someone to write a plugin!

I will keep you informed if I find anything out, and would appreciate the same from you!

    oh wonderful Andrea_r!

so how much time do you think we will have to wait for that to come?
its coming as a plugin or as a feature inside a new actualization of WP?

    Thanks!

Awesome! @andrea_r - yes, any timeframe and/or name of the plugin, or reference for us to keep up-to-date? All is appreciated. Thanks!

  8. It's coming as a paid plugin. I just need to finish the docs.

    @ andrea_r

    Hi,

Will your plugin allow new sites to be created (cloned) within WPMU that will automatically install with all of the settings of the "top" (first) blog?

I would love to be able to setup the first blog after the initial install as a "master" to include a particular theme and several plugins with custom configurations. Then as I create new blogs, I would like them to be an exact replica of the "master" blog, including carrying over all of the modified settings of the theme and especially the modified settings of plugins.

Please let us know in this thread when this is available?

    Thanks!

    Jason

  11. @jason - it's been in a private beta for quite a while. it copies every single thing except for comments.

I don't think I can link to it in the forums. Follow my blog or my twitter instead.

Andrea, is it the "multi-site" plugin?

    Thank you!

This plugin is also useful in adding more options for defaults in new sites http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wpmu-new-blog-defaults/

It's not been updated for 3.0, but I haven't encountered any issues with it in a 3.0 environment.

I totally agree with miklb. I use it (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wpmu-new-blog-defaults/) myself with no problems as well

    @ marikamitsos

Does it carry over your plugin settings when you create a new blog?

  16. Andrea, is it the "multi-site" plugin?

    No. :)

The new blog defaults plugin is awesome, but no - it doesn't pull plugin or theme settings.

    andrea_r,

I got both, getting to it...

Any news on your work on getting this plugin ready?

    Please keep us updated. Thanx

  21. They're still working on it (and don't expect it this week or next, probably. There was WP 3.0.1 and ... well, Real Things ;) )

Anyone know what the price of Andrea's plugin will be?

  23. Sorry peeps, I had company all week.

I'd rather talk about it outside the scope of the support forums here with my mod hat on. :) hit me up on twitter.
