Support » Fixing WordPress » Is there a way to disable the new 3.9 "image details" dialog?

  • This is a follow-on to this thread, which discussed how to disable the new media manager as of WordPress 3.5. At that time, other users and myself wanted to disable the new 3.5 media manager, and realized that the old form did still exist in the core, but was now disabled by default. A solution for functions.php was devised at that time, and it works. With the latest media manager changes, the solution devised for 3.5 did not break, and still works perfectly in 3.9.

That said, the “Image Details” dialog, which was not revised in 3.5, was now given a corresponding revision in 3.9, and lost a bunch of functionality that I previously depended on to do my site work. This is the dialog that comes up when one goes to edit details of an image after one has already inserted it into the post. It used to look like this.

Considering that the earlier fix did not break on this update, I suspect that the old dialog box for this is also still there, but disabled by default.

Does anyone know how to do/find this, or otherwise found a solution for this?
