Is there a virtual link library available as a plugin or something else? What I am looking for is a library where virtual links can be associated with real website addresses. These virtual links would then be used throughout my blog, instead of the actual links. This would make updating links much easier since they would all be in a single location.

How would that be easier? You still have to update links in the end.

True, but you would only have to change a single link in the library and it would be changed in many different blog posts.

    For example:

I have a backpacking blog where I always link terms like “my backpack” to a retailer that sells my backpack. Now, I find that the retailer no longer carries the backpack, or perhaps it is out of stock. Now I change the link in the library to another retailer and it is instantly changed in all my different blog posts, perhaps hundreds of different posts.

Wouldn’t such a thing be useful?

In a very niche group, yeah.

You may as well spin up short codes for that. [my-backpack] and so on. Then put those in as needed.

Alternatively, you could link to an internal page and redirect that.
