   I know there is a number of "private posts" plugins, but I'm curious if there is one that can:

   • Make posts private by roles and users, selected by post
   • Make all posts in a category private
   • Optionally hide the post completely or display a message saying the post is private, including in RSS feeds
   • Make text within a post private

   i would love to have such a plugin as well. I know there is a plugin 'disclose secret'' but its not wp 2.3 compatible

   Have you taken a look at post levels?
   http://fortes.com/projects/wordpress/postlevels/

   That will allow you to set multiple levels of security (0-9) for posts and for users.

   Other than that, private posts shouldn't show up at all unless you're logged in and the author of the post.

   This is not the case as they show up feeds.
