Is there a plugin for a Separate 'Articles' Category (3 posts)

Hi there: I just checked out Alex King's 'Articles' plugin, but it doesn't seem to do what I want it to do, which is to post articles in a separate category of its own and NOT in the list of posts that appear in the primary Categories section when I click the 'Publish' button.

What I want to do is to add and publish to a new and separate category section in addition to the existing Pages and Posts categories. I want to be able to publish to an 'Articles' category and not have it appear ONLY in that category and not in the existing category list.

In other words, I want to use my Categories for posting certain types of information, and an Articles section for different types of posts, and I want to keep the two categories separate when I click the publish button.

Is there a plugin that will do this? (I hope I'm making myself clear - I know what I want to do, I'm just having trouble describing it.)

I would also like to see this, very much. I regret that my programming skills are minimal, but I do understand a great deal in regards to computers, so if any potential developers out there would like to have a tester, I'm willing to assist. This is perhaps the single most important plugin that I have looked for in any blog or CMS, and been unable to find one worth using.

    Just thinking aloud...
Having a cat titled "Articles" and being excluded both from showing up in the cat list in the sidebar AND its posts from showing up on the main/home page - wouldn't give you that result?
