Is the post title set by WP to be h1?

    Is the post title set by WP h1 by default?

    Am I correct in thinking h1 should be used once only in a post.

    My theme is Thesis 1.7. I am certain that theme does not change the post title setting.

    No, WordPress doesn’t set this, it is determined by your theme.

    Thesis might not have an option in the settings to choose which tag is used for your post title, but somewhere in the code it is adding a headline tag to the title.

    It isn’t a hard and fast rule, but the H1 would be the overall title of your page, so it is a good idea to only use one of them. As a rule of thumb, I never use more than the number of the headline; one H1, two H2, etc.
