    Hello,

I would like to know if the following site can be built with WordPress:

    1. Besides the usual buttons up, it should have abc..xyz, the alphabet, with drop-down (or whatever it is called) geographical areas and sub-areas.

    2. On the left vertically there should be various categories and sub-categories with unlimited expansion.

    3. Each area of item 1 must have a moderator with extensive rights assigned by the site owner. The moderators are to have vast control of the content but limited to their area.

    4. There should be a space reserved for global advertisement which cannot be touched by anybody except the site owner. This space must appear on all future pages created by local administrators. The same will apply for the left and right sides outside the actual site borders. Of course, there must be the option of local administrators to be given the right to publish on that space for their local pages.

    5. An image resizer to shrink pictures automatically to a predefined volume.

    6. A system to manage databases of people who will subscribe to the site.

    7. A poll add-on.

    8. Verbose statistics.

Needles to say, all the above should operate smoothly when joined together.

All the above should be with open source software since I am a strong believer in it.

Please, for each number above, give links if that is not too much trouble for you.

    Thank you in advance!

    1. Not sure what you mean. Can you link to an example?

    2. I'm also not clear on this one. If you mean you want to create as many categories and subcategories as you need, then WordPress core will satisfy that requirement. If you are referring to infinite scrolling, you should look into a theme or plugin to add that functionality. Here's an example: http://wordpress.org/plugins/infinite-scroll/

    3. Though I don't know what item 1 is, you can create new users with varying permissions / levels of access in the core of WordPress. http://make.wordpress.org/support/user-manual/customizing-wordpress/managing-users-on-your-wordpress-site/adding-users-to-your-wordpress-site/. I would make them Editors.

    4. Yes. Here is a good ad plugin: https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/ad-widget/. Ensure that the theme you choose has widgets enabled. Do not give your site's moderators administrative access if you don't want them to be able to make changes to the widgets.

    5. Yes. I believe you can add global image settings in your theme's style.css file, or change an image's size on an individual basis within the WYSIWYG editor.

    6. Yes. Try BuddyPress or UserPro.

    7. Yes. Plenty free and premium plugins are available. here's one: http://wordpress.org/plugins/cardoza-wordpress-poll/

    8. Statistics on what?
