Is MySQL a "free" download?

    I’m planning to run WordPress on my Mac PPC G5 Xserve.

    It looks like I will have to pay $2,000 or more to obtain MySQL from http://www.mysql.com.

    Then I read where MySQL is free, open source.

    This looks like a contradiction. Can you clear up my confusion?
