[resolved] Is multi-site the best alternative? (2 posts)

I currently have a single webhosting account which hosts a domain and an ad on domain- http://www.domain1.com & http://www.domain2.com.

Within the public HTML folder I have two separate WP installations running (with separate DBs) in their own directories. The first can be accessed by http://www.domain1.com. for the second I currently have to go to http://www.domain2.com/wordpress.

Is it possible to be able to access both WP installations by going to the respective url- without the "/wordpress" ? Is multi-site the best way(easiest) way to achieve this?

    thanks in advance-

    Yes and yes.

You can ask your web host (or perhaps do it yourself) to point domain2 directly to the /wordpress/ directory and it will load without having /wordpress in the URL.

You can turn the domain1 install into Multisite, set up the second site that domain2 will access and export/import the posts from domain2's install into the domain1 sub-site. Then use the Domain Mapping plugin to assign domain2 to the sub-site. Do the export of posts and back up your databases prior to starting this process.
