I've managed to get my index page down to just 32k of download - that's fast. But 19k of the total is a script called jquery. If I can dump Jquery my site would be lean, mean and very fast.
Is dumping Jquery an option?

In theory, yes but you will lose out on some functionality such as threaded comments.

Hmm. I need to keep threaded comments, so that's not an option.
