    Hello,

This is a newbie question, but ironically I am not sure I understood the guides clearly about this precise point, I hope I'm not abusing your time !

Simply said, for security reasons : if I have another wordpress user with admin rights, is it safe and/or allowed to simply delete the "admin" user ?

Thanks a lot if you can clarify this to help :)

    Best regards,
    Sabinou

As long as the admin user is not associated with any posts, pages, or comments, the user can easily be deleted without any negative consequences. In fact, deleting the admin user or changing the username by editing the database is a recommended security precaution.

Thanks for the reply, MacmanX :)

Then indeed, there will be complications, the "Admin" username is responsible for 2000+ posts on my blog.

Maybe it's possible to have the posts moved to another owner, and then delete the admin user...

I guess that, fault of a simple confirmation reply, I'm back to reading guides.

Thank you very much for the reply !

If you're doing it for security reasons, just change the admin's username.

Login to your database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel), browse the wp_users table and edit the admin user (click the pencil icon next to the user). Then, enter your own value into the user_login field.

I had admin user changed to Subscriber role for testing purposes, and then I cannot change it back to Administrator. There is no other adminisitrator user on the User list. Is there a way to manually change it back, perhaps through phpMyAdmin? I do not see where I can edit value for role in wp_users.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
