Is it possible to remove title attribute from links in the links manager?

I was wondering if there was a way to do this without hacking the core files.
I want to display the link description on the page, but not in the title attribute.
So far I figured out I can hack the core files, which i will have to update again everytime I update WP, not put in a description which will compromise my design, or use regular posts as links which I will then format to look like links with a description, which is extremely sloppy, but posts are more customizable than links since they allow you to include or exclude the title attribute in their template tags.

Please help.
