[resolved] Is it possible to move self-hosted blog to WordPress.com? (3 posts)

My web host provider just went bye bye. There was no warning. Now I need to find a new host. My question is: can I import my self-hosted blog files to WordPress.com until I find a host that I like? I backed up my blog daily, so I have the files if it is possible.

Please let me know right away. My following was starting to grow quite a bit, and I know I've lost readers because of this mess. I also have my own domain name. Can I use my domain with WordPress.com?

    Please help!

Answer is yes--do Tools->Export at your old blog, and Tools->Import->WordPress at wordpress.com.

But if you only have a database backup, then you'd need to restore that database to either a local (your PC) install or another hosted situation.

I'd encourage you just to get a new host--it's easy. Worst part is waiting for your domain to resolve after pointing the name servers to your new host but sometimes that happens within minutes.
