Hi there, I'm wanting to make an entire website using one copy of WordPress so all sections of the site can be accessed via the search function.

However, I'm not sure if it's possible to do the following:

Using just one copy of WordPress I would like to make different pages have different addresses. For example:

    http://www.mywebsite.com/blog
    http://www.mywebsite.com/news

I can't figure out how to achieve this because I know the web address has to be the name of the WordPress folder (or root directory).

Can anyone tell me how to do this? Thank you for any help!

  2. Are you talking about a blog page and a news page, or more like two blogs, one of which called blog, and one of which called news?

Ipstenu I mean like having different pages on the site, I guess you could call it different blogs.

The catch is, as I said, I want it all within the same copy of WordPress so people can search across the entire site for entries on different pages.

Say for example on the top there were different sections: Home, Blog, News, Links

How could I use one wordpress installation to have different web addresses for different pages as I said above?

Basically, I want to have different sections of my website but I want people to be able to find anything across the entire site using the Search function on the first page they come to. Is this possible with WordPress?

  5. Yeah, but it comes with some decisions.

Possibly the easiest would be to have two categories: News and Blog. Then use this plugin to have a WP page as the 'header' for your category: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/page2cat/

Then just install WP in your root html folder, or give it it's own directory: http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

And your urls would be http://domain.net/news and so on.

Alternately, install WPMU in the root html (or WP 3.0 and use multisite) and make two blogs. For search, you could use this: http://welcome.totheinter.net/wpsearchmu/
