I want to remove the line that asks for a users URI. Is there a way to do that with css or in the WP management area?

Most of the time the comment form is handled by WordPress, so to customize it you'll have to write a function that will filter what fields you want on your form. An example can be seen here.

    Hi sp12

It always helps us to help you if you post the URL of your site then we can have a look and perhaps come up with a solution.

Thanks. I'll read the function thing.

I found a post that told me how to edit the comment.php to remove it. My biggest concern is that if I change that and then there is an update that I have to go back and update it again.

    Got it, thanks.

To answer my other question, in case anyone stumbles upon this thread, make a child theme and put the comments.php you edit in there. Then when updates come, it will be preserved.
