Is it possible to re-arrange, add or delete sections off the home page layout of a theme? It is not part of a widgit.

    Yes? No?

Everything’s possible with enough time, resources, and effort. Learning how themes work would be a good first step. I would also download the _s starter theme and read through the code (it’s very well documented) to further learn about themes and how to customize them to do what you want them to.

Thanks for the links. 🙂 I seriously gave it a go and wanted to start building by scratch but it is way over my head, and I need my site up fast. I am happy with the cubby theme I just want to tweak it a bit, and I am looking for a fast fix.

I posted this earlier and I didn’t get any responses

I pretty much just want to know where I should be looking(.css file? .php file?) to find and change the layout of the page.

Hi Sabrinao, just want to make you aware of how we track unanswered threads here. Every thread that does has not been replied to yet is tracked on this big list: http://wordpress.org/support/view/no-replies – Having a list allows us to track threads regardless of whether they appear on the front page of the forums (which is the main reason people ‘bump’).

By bumping your thread you remove yourself from that list, and once your bump wears off (which isn’t that long when it’s busy) your chances of receiving help are dramatically diminished, and continue to diminish the older the thread gets. That is not so much of the case when you’re on the no-replies list.

So the best thing you can do is wait for people to help, and that can be a hard wait if your issue needs urgent support. In that case we encourage you to seek professional support because threads here are known to go unanswered for weeks, or months. You’ll more likely get agitated posting a free support forum like WordPress.org for urgent support, or you might get lucky and receive support straight away :p

    Oh I am so sorry… I didn’t know.

Yeah you can create adverts for people to help you, just like creating a forum thread http://jobs.wordpress.net/post-a-job/

Well if you have a theme that mostly meets your needs and you just want to change up a few CSS styles, consider using a Child Theme. At its most basic, a child theme is a stylesheet with important commented information at the top that tells WordPress it’s a child theme of a particular parent theme. Then it imports the parent theme’s styles. And then you put in your custom styles to customize your site the way you want. All you really need to know is CSS.
