Is it allowed to publish modified themes to the community?

Hi everybody,

I have modified Beccas Almost Spring theme that it fits my needs. I want to publish it for free to the wordpress community. I left a note to Beccas site in the footer, but I couldn’t reach her by mail. What is the general opinion about publishing modified themes.

If it is clearly a GPL licensed (or other open license) theme, you shouldn’t have problems distributing a modified version so long as you follow whatever license it bears.

If it isn’t clearly marked, I wouldn’t redistribute something without specific allowances from the author.
