Is future page publishing possible?

    Hello, Has anyone worked out a hack or a method to enable future page publishing, similar to being able to publish a post in the future by editing the publication date? I’d like to be able to write a page and have it ready to be published at a chosen time, like posts.

    I don’t see a plugin or other mentions of future page publishing in the forums, so I’m bring it up in case someone has considered it or thought of ways to possibly make it work.

    I think part of a possible hack might involve the fact that it’s possible to have two pages with the same title but different ID numbers. I wonder about the possibility of a hack that would look at the IDs of two pages with the same title and unpublish the one with the lower ID and publish the one with the higher ID. That would swap the newer edited page with an older one, which then can be deleted. Or the hack could delete the lower ID page.

    A complex hack could even work with three or more versions of a page, and publish them in turn by refering to the order of the IDs.

    Too far-fetched? Are there some ideas for easier ways to future publish pages?

    Why not write them as posts, and put them in their own category and manipulate the display of that particular category?

    I’ll have to try that; didn’t think of it. What I want is the appearance of pages instead of a list of posts, but I can take out the post details and then adjust the permalinks to have URLs with the title of the category. I need to have 50 pages as such (one for each state) and if I can future post to some of them cocurrently, that would work nicely.

    Tried it and working with categories works well for what I need. I needed to think outside the page. By editing the post details that are displayed, I got the posts to display on what appears to be a “page” for each category, as well as appearing on the front page with a link to the “category page.” Thanks….
