IO Error using Flash Uploader (9 posts)

This seems to be a common issue with WordPress, but when I try to upload images using the Flash uploader I get the dreaded red IO Error. I'm using the most recent versions of Firefox, WordPress and Flash.

Some online forums suggest using the browser uploader, but I need to be able to upload multiple images at a time (which is apparently impossible unless you use the Flash uploader). I can successfully upload when I try on my wife's computer, suggesting it's not a WordPress-based issue.

I cannot currently use other browsers (Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer). I haven't changed my proxy settings at any point. Could certain flash-based programs be conflicting which is causing the error?

I've tried installing, re-installing, downgrading, upgrading and restarting but to no avail. This is driving me crazy. Somebody, anybody... HELP!

Thanks Esmi, but I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. I don't know if that's the problem. I also cannot uninstall/reinstall Java...

Uploading with Flash works on my wife's computer but not on my home laptop or office PC.

Sorry but this is obviously not a WordPress issue but a problem with your local machines.

Uploading with Flash works on my wife's computer but not on my home laptop or office PC.

At work it could be the firewalls they have (It never works for me at the office).

At home, it could be a hundred things, but it boils down to your laptop. It could be the operating system, the browser, conflict with other apps...

Try Chrome, by the way. It has its own Flash included.

Hmm, I can't get online with Chrome or Internet Explorer. Just Firefox.

Then you have some pretty serious problems with that computer and I'd take it to get fixed.

Sounds like Chrome and IE may have proxy settings that Firefox doesn't (Chrome uses IE/system proxy settings). Might want to check that.
